Additional Notes

Born and trained initially in Germany, Wolfgang Friedmann emigrated to England in the early years of the Nazi regime, and took a second doctorate and a readership at the University of London. His interests were in jurisprudence and international law. He was appointed professor of public law at Melbourne Law School in 1947 where he remained until he resigned in 1950, during which time he developed his expertise in administrative law, publishing the first Australian textbook on the subject in 1950.
