Chairman, National Electricity Tribunal. Formerly Member of National Native Title Tribunal, Associate Member Australian Competition and Consumer Commission; National President, Australian Mining and Petroleum Law Association; National Chairman, Law Council of Australia Resources Law and Trade Practices Law Committees; Chairman, Victoria Branch, Commercial Law Association of Australia.

Practised as barrister 1957-1969 and 1974-2001, appointed Queen's Counsel 1975. Accredited mediator, Supreme Court of Victoria. Advisory and litigation practice throughout Australia in wide range of resources industry matters. Senior corporate management (4 years), and non-executive director (13 years) in companies engaged in major resources joint-venture development projects and operations in Australia and overseas.

As Director of CERL 1996-2001 developed, graduate courses and research in contemporary legal, regulatory and policy aspects of energy, infrastructure, natural resources, environment and native title.
